Form a habit

There will be good days, there will be bad days. There will be days when you don’t think you could lift a finger. Show up regardless, and write even if it’s shit and you know you will delete tomorrow everything you wrote today.

THE KEY IS TO FORM A HABIT.

Just like with waking up at a certain time, start writing at a certain time every day.

Can’t do it? Then write in the same place.

Can’t do it? Then write to the same music.

Can’t do it? Write on the same pad with the same pen, or write while eating the same snack, or write after you've cursed everything a hundred times and ended up with a tangle of emotions that seemed impossible to carry, let alone express in words…you get it.

Create a routine and stick to it, whatever that routine is, then change it when it no longer works.

For me right now it’s watching a movie while I write. I go back and forth. And it works. For now. Who knows what will work in the future? It doesn’t matter. I’ll come up with a new routine.

So, what will it be for you?
